About this event
Discussion Club is a lecture series presented by the Sage School of Philosophy.
This week, Jacob Nebel (Princton) will give a talk titled "Specters of Spectrum Arguments"
Abstract: Spectrum arguments in the theory of value derive seemingly repugnant conclusions from seemingly plausible premises about what's better or worse. I will be talking about psychological analogues of these arguments, concerning the desire-like attitudes of ordinary agents. My aim is to lay out these psychological spectrum arguments, to show that they are genuinely puzzling, to explore a possible solution to them, and to see what they can teach us about the original arguments about value.
Reception to follow.
