EduHookup Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of EduHookup, including campus communities, social connections, dating, hookups, events, housing, marketplace listings, jobs, internships, tutoring, employers, student services, messaging, and related features.
Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using EduHookup, creating an account, publishing content, sending messages, or using any feature, you agree to these Terms, the Community Guidelines, and the Privacy Policy.
Do not use EduHookup if you do not agree to these rules.
Adults only
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use EduHookup. A college enrollment, student identification card, or .edu email address does not establish that a person is 18 or older.
You must provide accurate age and account information. EduHookup may request age or identity verification and may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account when we reasonably believe a user is under 18 or has misrepresented their age.
Account eligibility and security
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, and activity conducted through your account.
You may not impersonate another person, misrepresent your college or affiliation, create an account for someone else without authorization, evade a suspension, sell an account, or share an account in a way that undermines platform safety.
User content and acceptable use
You are responsible for posts, profiles, listings, messages, photographs, links, applications, offers, and other content you submit.
Content must be accurate, lawful, placed in the appropriate category, and consistent with its stated purpose. You may not use EduHookup for scams, spam, harassment, stalking, threats, hate, impersonation, coercion, exploitation, prohibited sales, stolen property, academic fraud, deceptive employment offers, or other harmful or illegal activity.
Do not publish content that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other legal rights.
No commercial sexual or romantic services
EduHookup may not be used to offer, request, advertise, purchase, sell, arrange, promote, recruit for, or facilitate prostitution, escort services, commercial sexual services, compensated dating, or sexual or romantic activity exchanged for money, gifts, housing, tuition, transportation, employment, substances, or anything else of value.
This prohibition includes coded wording, external links, third-party advertising, agency or manager activity, recruitment, attempts to move a prohibited arrangement off-platform, and attempts to disguise prohibited services as dating, hookups, housing, employment, modeling, massage, tutoring, or another category.
No trafficking or exploitation
Human trafficking, sexual exploitation, coercion, grooming, threats, control of another person, or recruitment for exploitative activity is strictly prohibited.
Dating, hookups, meetings, and offline conduct
EduHookup does not guarantee the identity, intentions, background, age, enrollment status, honesty, suitability, or safety of any user.
You are responsible for your decisions and interactions, including dating, hookups, meetings, travel, transportation, and other offline activity. Meet publicly first, protect personal information, communicate boundaries clearly, and leave any situation that feels unsafe.
Consent must be voluntary, informed, specific, and capable of being withdrawn. Using EduHookup does not create or imply consent to any communication, meeting, romantic interaction, or sexual activity.
Marketplace, housing, services, and payments
EduHookup may allow users to publish items, housing, transportation, tutoring, services, and other marketplace opportunities. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, EduHookup is not the buyer, seller, landlord, tenant, service provider, payment processor, insurer, or guarantor in user transactions.
Users are responsible for inspecting items, verifying offers, understanding terms, complying with applicable laws, and deciding whether to complete a transaction. Be cautious with deposits, advance payments, gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, verification fees, overpayments, and requests to communicate or pay outside the platform.
Jobs, internships, tutors, and employers
EduHookup does not guarantee the legitimacy, compensation, working conditions, qualifications, licensing, availability, or accuracy of any job, internship, employer, tutor, client, applicant, or service listing.
Employers and opportunity providers are responsible for complying with employment, wage, discrimination, classification, tax, licensing, and other applicable laws. Users are responsible for independently evaluating opportunities before sharing sensitive information, accepting work, paying fees, or entering an agreement.
Events and campus information
Event information, campus guides, imported resources, dates, locations, prices, eligibility requirements, and availability may change. Verify important details with the organizer or official source before relying on a listing.
EduHookup is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the colleges and universities identified on the platform unless expressly stated.
Moderation and enforcement
EduHookup may use user reports, technical systems, and platform moderators to identify possible violations.
We may reject, remove, edit, limit, label, demote, or restrict content; limit messaging or other features; issue warnings; suspend or terminate accounts; prevent account recreation; preserve relevant records; and take other reasonable enforcement action.
Private messages are not intended for routine moderator browsing. Messages may be reviewed when reported, when necessary to investigate abuse or platform misuse, or when required to comply with legal obligations.
Trusted student or campus moderators may eventually assist with assigned communities or categories. They would operate under EduHookup's sitewide rules and oversight. EduHookup retains final authority over account enforcement, appeals, exploitation, trafficking, legal compliance, and sitewide policy.
License to operate the platform
You retain ownership of content you submit. By submitting content, you grant EduHookup a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, distribute, and otherwise use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, promote, and improve the platform.
This license ends when the content is deleted from active platform use, except where continued retention is reasonably necessary for backups, safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement.
Reports and cooperation
Users may report posts, accounts, and messages that appear to violate these Terms. Reports should be truthful and submitted in good faith. Misusing reporting tools to harass another person or manipulate moderation is prohibited.
EduHookup may preserve or disclose relevant information when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, enforce these Terms, respond to valid legal process, or address an emergency involving possible death or serious physical harm.
User content and third-party conduct
EduHookup does not create, endorse, verify, control, or guarantee any user, profile, post, listing, message, image, event, housing offer, job, internship, tutor, employer, service, item, transaction, meeting, hookup, or other user-generated or third-party content.
Users are solely responsible for evaluating content, people, offers, opportunities, services, and interactions and for every decision they make on or through the platform. EduHookup is not responsible for statements, promises, representations, omissions, conduct, or failures by users or third parties.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, EduHookup and its owners, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, contractors, moderators, vendors, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or similar damages arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the platform.
This limitation includes claims involving user content, user conduct, scams, fraud, impersonation, harassment, meetings, dating, hookups, transactions, payments, events, employment, internships, housing, tutoring, services, property, personal injury, emotional distress, loss of money, loss of data, loss of opportunity, loss of employment, loss of housing, loss of reputation, loss of profits, unauthorized access, service interruptions, or third-party websites and services.
EduHookup is not responsible for disputes, injuries, losses, damages, or legal claims arising between users or between a user and a third party. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnification, release, and hold harmless
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, release, and hold harmless EduHookup and its owners, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, contractors, moderators, vendors, licensors, and service providers from and against third-party claims, demands, actions, proceedings, liabilities, losses, damages, judgments, settlements, penalties, costs, and reasonable attorneys' fees.
This obligation applies to claims arising out of or related to your account, content, posts, listings, messages, images, conduct, platform use or misuse, interactions or transactions with another user, offline meetings, dating or hookups, employment or housing activity, violation of law, infringement of another person's rights, or violation of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
EduHookup reserves the right, at your expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of a matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you. You agree to cooperate reasonably with the defense of any such claim.
Nearby map and location-based features
Nearby is an optional location-based social feature available only to eligible logged-in users. You control whether to share your location and whether to appear on a map. Other users are shown an approximate or shifted location rather than your raw device coordinates. Optional recent-movement sharing is off by default and can be turned on or off by the user.
You may not use Nearby, location information, movement sharing, messages, or any related feature to stalk, harass, threaten, follow, surveil, impersonate, deceive, or endanger another person. You must respect blocks, privacy choices, map modes, reporting tools, and other safety controls.
Map positions, distance estimates, activity status, last-updated times, and movement trails may be approximate, delayed, stale, unavailable, or inaccurate. EduHookup does not guarantee that a user's displayed location is exact, current, complete, or verified, and Nearby must not be used as an emergency or personal-safety tracking service.
User responsibility, liability, and assumption of risk
You are solely responsible for the content you create or submit, including posts, listings, profiles, status text, messages, images, job or internship submissions, marketplace content, and information shared through Nearby. You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, permissions, rights, and consequences of that content and for your conduct on and off the platform.
By choosing to publish content, contact another person, appear on Nearby, share location or movement information, send or receive messages, meet another user, enter a transaction, provide or obtain transportation, pursue employment or housing, date, hook up, or otherwise interact through EduHookup, you knowingly choose to participate and, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, assume the risks associated with those activities.
Those risks may include inaccurate or stale information, unwanted contact, harassment, scams, fraud, impersonation, misuse or redistribution of information or screenshots, location inference, physical injury, property loss, financial loss, emotional distress, reputational harm, transportation risks, and risks associated with meeting or interacting with people you do not know. You are responsible for deciding whether, when, where, and how to interact and for taking appropriate personal-safety precautions.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Notifications, reminders, and alerts
EduHookup may provide optional or service-related emails, push notifications, unread-message reminders, job or internship alerts, and other notices. These features are provided for convenience and may be delayed, duplicated, filtered, unavailable, or not delivered because of device settings, browser permissions, email providers, network conditions, service-provider issues, or other factors.
Notifications and alerts are not guarantees that you will receive or see a message, opportunity, deadline, safety notice, listing change, or other information. You remain responsible for checking EduHookup directly and for independently confirming deadlines, availability, requirements, and other time-sensitive information.
Platform availability and changes
EduHookup is provided on an as-available and as-is basis. Features may contain errors, interruptions, incomplete information, or third-party content. We may add, modify, restrict, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Disclaimers and limitation of responsibility
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, EduHookup does not make warranties regarding users, listings, messages, transactions, meetings, events, employment, housing, services, educational information, or third-party content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. The exact limitations that apply may depend on your jurisdiction.
Changes to these Terms
EduHookup may update these Terms as the platform, laws, and safety practices change. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date when one is provided.
Continued use of EduHookup after updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
No Scraping or Automated Data Collection
You may not access, collect, copy, extract, download, reproduce, monitor, index, aggregate, republish, sell, license, analyze, or otherwise use any content or data from EduHookup through automated means without our prior written permission.
Prohibited methods include, without limitation, web scraping, crawling, spiders, bots, scripts, browser automation, artificial intelligence or machine-learning data collection, data-mining tools, harvesting software, automated queries, or similar technologies.
This restriction applies to all information available through EduHookup, including:
- User profiles, usernames, photographs, and account information;
- Posts, listings, messages, comments, and user-generated content;
- College, campus, event, organization, tutor, scholarship, and employment information;
- Contact information and other personal or identifying information; and
- Platform statistics, page structure, search results, metadata, and databases.
You may not use EduHookup content or data to:
- Create, train, test, improve, or operate an artificial intelligence or machine-learning system;
- Build or supplement a database, directory, marketplace, search engine, social network, or competing service;
- Identify, contact, profile, advertise to, recruit, or solicit EduHookup users;
- Resell, redistribute, publish, or commercially exploit EduHookup information; or
- Circumvent access controls, rate limits, robots.txt instructions, authentication requirements, or other technical protections.
Accessing EduHookup for a prohibited purpose is expressly unauthorized and constitutes a material violation of these Terms. We may suspend or terminate access, block associated accounts, devices, networks, or systems, preserve relevant records, and pursue available contractual, statutory, equitable, or other legal remedies.
General-purpose search engines may crawl publicly accessible pages only to the limited extent expressly permitted by EduHookup's robots.txt file and solely for inclusion in ordinary public search results. This limited permission does not authorize the creation of datasets, commercial directories, user profiles, artificial intelligence training materials, or competing products or services.
No rights are granted by implication, waiver, estoppel, or otherwise. Any authorization must be provided in writing by an authorized representative of EduHookup.
