About this event
Join the NYU John Brademas Center for a screening of
Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round
, an Emmy Award-winning documentary directed and produced by Ilana Trachtman that tells the story of the 1960 civil rights protests at Glen Echo Amusement Park in Maryland. Through newly uncovered archival footage and firsthand accounts, the film examines the student-led demonstrations that challenged the park's segregation policies, the unexpected coalition of local residents who joined the movement, and the opposition they faced. By focusing on the experiences of ordinary individuals, the documentary offers an intimate look at a pivotal moment in the early Civil Rights Movement and the lasting impact of grassroots activism. A discussion will follow the screening.
This in-person program is open to everyone, and registration is required in order to attend. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The discussion portion of this program will be recorded.
