Blacktronika

Event details Date: Friday, October 16, 2026 Time: 7:00 PM Location: Conrad Prebys Music Center Experimental Theater - 9410 Russell Lane, La Jolla, CA 92093 Type: Arts / Performance Campus area: University Center Audience: Students, Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional, Visitors Cost: Free About this event Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music (MUS 19R) honors the innovators of color who have been instrumental in the advancement of electronic music. Since the course is synchronous but remote across all UC campuses, we present two dance events each quarter as a physical extension of the classroom. These events build community through movement and, most importantly, allow the music discussed in class to be experienced as it should be: in context, collectively, and on a proper sound system in UC San Diego Music’s Experimental Theater. Music is presented by world-renowned producer/DJ Professor King Britt alongside special guests. “We are proud to partner with Future is Color, a creative and cultural practice designing infrastructure for community. Together we will create a safe space for hearts to beat as one” All ages. Everyone is welcome. Official event details: https://calendar.ucsd.edu/event/blacktronika-6553
