We want to invite you to bring a picture of meaningful people who are no longer here but have had an impact in your life. The altar is not only reserved for family members but for anyone you would like to honor and remember during this special season. Feel free to bring a picture of your pets, favorite writer, influential people in your life, and of course family members to be part of the altar. It is believed that on this special season spirits get to travel back to earth to visit the living and enjoy their favorite things. People will often leave at the altar their loved one's favorite food, fruits, snacks, and sweet treats to make the spirits' visit joyful, as they take with them the essence of their favorite things. Another very special part of the tradition is leaving at the altar items that meant a lot for their loved one's. It could be a squeaky toy for your childhood dog, a magazine to let them know the latest celebrity gosip, or even a cardboard box for the family cat. On November 2, at 11 a.m. We will have hot coco and bread, as it is tradition to come together on the last day the spirits get to roam around. So remember to stop by the Arts and Humanities lobby during your break. Official event details: https://calendar.ucsd.edu/event/dia-de-los-muertos-day-of-the-dead-community-altar
