About this event
"Ubiquitin-dependent Regulation of cell identity and oncoprotiens stabilization"
with Professor Amir Orian MD/PhD
Director, Rappaport Research Cancer Center-RTICC
Group Leader, Rappaport Faculty of Medicine
Technion-IIT
Professor Amir Orian heads the Ruth and Stan Flinkman Genetic Networks Laboratory at the Rappaport-Technion Cancer Research Center (RTICC), and the Technion Faculty of Medicine. At the scientific center of Amir’s laboratory are the regulation of cell identity and oncoprotein stabilization in cancer by the ubiquitin pathway. Amir received his MD (1999), and PhD in biochemistry (2000, under the supervision of Nobel laureate Aaron Ciechanover), from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion. His post-doctoral training at the Fred Hutchinson Research Cancer, Seattle WA (2000-2025), mentored by laboratory of Robert Eisenman focused on the biology and regulation of the Myc oncogene in Drosophila and humans. Along his career he is a recipient of excellence awards including the Clore graduate excellence fellowship, HFSP postdoctoral and CDA awards. He was a special fellow of the Lymphoma and Leukemia Societyand is a recipient of the Krill award. Amir was the Head of the Department of cancer and cell biology at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion (2019-2023), and as of 2023 he is the Director of the RTICC (https://rticc.net.technion.ac.il).
