Event details Date: Friday, October 2, 2026 Time: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Location: Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism (ASC) - ASC Auditorium (G26) - 3502 Watt Way, Los Angeles, CA 90089 Campus: University Park Campus Department: USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism Audience: Alumni About this event Go beyond the screen with USC Annenberg for a special Homecoming edition of Trojan Voices: Behind the Story. USC alumni filmmakers will share scenes from their award-winning documentary, Saffron Robe, and insight into their decade-long journey bringing the film to life. Set in the remote mountains of northern Laos, Saffron Robe follows a revered Buddhist abbot working to preserve sacred traditions while providing education and hope to underserved youth in a post-war society. Through thoughtfully curated excerpts from the film, the filmmakers will offer behind-the-scenes perspectives on documentary craft, navigating cross-cultural narratives, and the creative decisions that shaped the film. Moderated by Professor Daniel Birman, the conversation will conclude with an audience Q&A, followed by a networking reception with light bites. Join fellow Trojans for an evening celebrating alumni storytellers, meaningful conversation, and the enduring impact of documentary filmmaking.
